FROGS, LEMONS, SEA
What if I suddenly woke up one day
feeling something is not quite the same?
What if I walk through that wall, knowing I could
grew mountains out of my hands?
I’d tie the sea to that elephant’s tail
and let the ocean move slowly away.
What if I want to defrost some galaxy’s heart
and bring it down here to light up the desert at night?
And then I would name again every town
war lords won’t know where to throw all their bombs.
I could take all dinosaur’s bones,
fuse them together and create a gigantic sun clock.
I’d turn those stupid fairy tales off
turning princes again into frogs
Trains will fly Over your house
follow the zippers through this field of violins
and you’ll find out what this is about.
A lemon river will run down the hill
I snap my fingers and it will stand still.
What if I followed flying saucers across every cloud
leaving the seagulls behind?
Come set the coloured pencils on fire
and make those two lonely planets collide.
Come smell the strawberry wind, open your parachute,
we’re moving so fast, we’re shouting like shooting-stars do.
CHORUS
we’re moving so fast
the witches are on my side
we plant this hurricane all around
the spell is on

SAD CARS
Sad cars are trembling on their blue march.
Sidewalks lost their way four times today
A ring bell keeps howling at this firelight,
whose heart of green has been switched off again.
One leaf falls from above,
right here where you should have been.
And the traffic is stopped,
it rains on the steering wheels
This long street is turning grey as I speak,
dust everywhere: past times are rough to watch.
Buildings wait quietly for my sign,
not knowing my blood runs in stone, like theirs.
One leaf falls from above
right here where you should have been
And the traffic is stopped
it rains on the steering wheels
There is nothing moving forward
There is nothing moving forward
Sad cars are now trembling on their blue march like ghosts.
Sidewalks lost their way five times today.
This building here waits for my sign to start and burst into flames,
not knowing I’ve become a stone-winged bird.
One leaf falls from above,
right here where you should have been
And the traffic is stopped;
it rains on the steering wheels
There is nothing moving forward
There is nothing moving forward
But I’m staring at the sun…

NOW THAT I COME TO YOU
At last, I return your call and after a drink or two we’re there:
on that wide frontier where friendship loses its own name.
It’s not late,
if your hand still fits on my waist and I
remember you don’t like hotels, while you
sing out my favourite song again, again…
Now that I come to you instead
Now that I come to you instead
When morning kills all phantoms, things turn white and black
The coffee is cold, and words are tasteless, like this glass
It’s too late
if we go and close every open door.
I did wrong and you can’t forgive me
or maybe it’s the other way round. Who cares, who cares…?
Now that I come to you instead
Now that I come to you instead…
Now, kisses, like goldfish, can’t breath in the air.

RADIO SAYS EVERYTHING’S OK
When the lights all went out
I was lying awake in my bed. Then I heard
that harsh sound as if the ground would break.
Neighbours were out screaming
I took shelter under my sheets.
Mother came and grabbed me,
telling me we should be brave, and wait and see…
Radio says everything’s ok, everything’s just fine
but what the hell would they now
Phones were dead, our tv set
was only reflecting my distorted face.
And the radio we found kept saying “everything’s ok”.
Mother went outside where the skyline
was lit up with flames.
Air was hot when I shouted “Mother
we’re going to be brave, as you said”
Radio says everything’s ok, everything’s just fine
but what the hell would they now
That was the first time I knew they were wrong
we stayed outside with no radio
we stayed outside with no radio

ON FOOT
This train I took is unsteady
wagons now squeak;
through the window everything has stopped.
This is how it all begins:
the path is there, and somehow
wheels have gone out of their own rails.
If I, I, If I had not woken up
could still believe in really happy endings.
If I, I, If I fell in love again…
That cannot be,
I’m done with that.
I’m done with that… with that… I’m done
This train I took was tricky
I thought it was for free, but it is so expensive I won’t repeat
This is how it all begins:
you find yourself on foot
miles ahead until you get somewhere.
If I, I, If I fell in love again
could still believe in really happy endings.
If I, I, If I fell in love again…
If I fell in love again…
That cannot be,
I’m done with that.
I’m done with that… with that… I’m done

WINTERTIME
Wintertime is changing winds; all birds do know this is no time to fly.
Roads are going on under these dying waves; a satellite shuts down.
But if you’re here to fall, then I will fall too
It’s cold a heart that has already closed the hatch both to mermaids and sharks.
You can call my name
You can call my name
You dive along a wreck so deep, all things have drowned: it’s all you see these days.
But hearts can swim like salmons do, against the flow, just following their lane.
If you’re here to fall, then I will fall too
No love should become a death wound; regardless that, some do it anyway.
You can call my name
You can call my name
You dive along a wreck so deep, all things have drowned: it’s all you see these days.
But hearts can swim like salmons do, against the flow, just following their lane
If you’re here to fall, then I will fall too
No love should become a death wound, but regardless that, some do it anyway.
You can call my name
You can call my name

LIMBO
This swamp where we spent the nights
is pouring out
the smell of lost arms sunk down there;
tents are hidden on this foggy powder wind.
We sleep, but we don’t dream;
those rifles by our side are cold companions now.
This battle’s lasting more than what
we’re meant to live.
Hot spreads, as insects fly;
they’re big like hands,
they seem to understand this place and
to know why they choose left or right.
We sit and chat, trying not to think, ‘cause
if you look around, you’ll scream.
Just pretend that you’re not here,
where we’re not meant to live.
This day may be the last
day we will crawl
as lizards along this limbo.
This day may be the last one
we’ll lie in wait
wondering what we’re looking for.
We sit and chat, trying not to think, ‘cause
if you look around, you’ll scream.
Just pretend that you’re not here,
where we’re not meant to live.
This day may be the last
day we will crawl
as lizards along this limbo.
This day may be the last one
we’ll lie in wait
wondering what we’re looking for.
This day may be the last day that we crawl
This limbo may be the last den of all.

WE HAD A DOZEN DREAMS
Way back, eves-dropping adults, I heard a disturbing advice:
“Don’t fall asleep; a dream, like an apple, is born green but one day crashes down”
We had a dozen dreams that crave for limits to smash
we had a dozen dreams with liquid arrows meant to fly
We had a dozen dreams I can’t remember none of them
We had a dozen dreams…
Landing gets so gently that we may not notice we’re arriving so fast
What bloomed then, now lies about, like some defeated balloons full of dust
We had a dozen dreams that crave for limits to smash
we had a dozen dreams with liquid arrows meant to fly
We had a dozen dreams I can’t remember none of them
We had a dozen dreams that crystallized in our hands
tougher than bones… Blind scars have grown instead.
We had a dozen dreams…

HANDS ON A WATERFALL
It rains when I get to the river shore, then I just stopped the car.
I go out and walk, my feet clap on the wet grass, a lightning strikes.
This is the day when I don’t have a clue
This is me feeling not sure
Why do elm-trees look so firm? Why do they seem so dignified?
They’re just growing things and eventually they will lie on the ground.
This is the day when I don’t have a clue
This is me feeling not sure
This is the day when I can’t really know
This is me feeling all wrong
Some thunder blast, clouds above laugh; on the verge of a waterfall, I’m standing now
All that noise makes me shake
It’s the place, it’s the time, it feels ok, it feels all right
With my hands on a waterfall everything starts.
This is the day when I don’t have a clue
and yet this is me feeling that good
This is the day when I can’t really know
and yet this is me feeling that strong
All things beat and shine, all things beat and shine
See them beat and shine, see them beat and shine …
